I can feel the beginning of the spring season right around the corner. Consequently, this time of year always inspires me to evaluate my current routines, habits, and environment. Usually, this stirs a desire within me to freshen things up. Typically, I start with making adjustments and changes to my skin, beauty, and self-care routines. Then slowly begin to declutter, purge, and organize my home, systems, and wellness routines. But, today, I want to focus on sharing with you some of the fun and exciting changes I’ve begun to make with my skin and beauty habits this spring. Which includes giving a new skincare brand a try.

The Spring Season is for Fresh Skin

My goal for my skin’s health this spring season is to prioritize anti-aging and brightening. Generally speaking, my skin has reached a place where it’s pretty low maintenance. Outside of a few dark spots, occasional breakouts, and oiliness in my t-zone, it’s well behaved. But, I do have to take care of making sure that I’m choosing products that compliment my skin type, which is normal to oily. And, to avoid products that can clog my pores and lead to breakouts. In addition to these skincare concerns, I also love experimenting with new skincare and beauty brands. One brand that I’m going to be giving a try over the spring season is Burt’s Bees.

Upgrade to Lightweight Moisture

It’s time to say good-bye to heavy moisturizers and transition to light lotions and gel creams. Currently, I’m using Burt’s Bees Skin Nourishment Day Lotion, which has an SPF 15 and the Skin Nourishment Gel Cream in the evening before bed. I’m not too sold on the day lotion mostly because it leaves an awful blue tint, which is courtesy of the physical sunscreen it contains. And, while I prefer physical sunscreens over chemical sunscreens, the trick is finding one that doesn’t leave me looking like an ashy smurf.

On the other hand, I LOVE the gel cream. It has the slip and comfort of a gel and is easy to spread over the skin. Plus, it feels cooling and refreshing. And, it doesn’t make my skin feel weighed down or over hydrated. It’s just right.

Silky Anti-Aging Serums

I love using serums because they give the skin a boost when it comes to hydration and providing additional skin benefits. They can help with protecting the skin from oxidative and cellular damage. Or, they can provide anti-aging benefits such as wrinkle prevention and dark spot correcting. Recently, I decided to give the Burt’s Bees Dark Spot Corrector Serum a try. Its hero ingredient is bakuchiol, which is advertised as a natural alternative to retinol. This is perfect for me since I typically transition retinol and other more aggressive exfoliators out of my skincare regimen in the spring and summer. This helps to prevent further issues with discoloration and uneven skin tone due to the combination of ingredients that increase the skin’s sensitivity to light. And, since spring and summer are my favorite seasons, you bet I’m going to be outside soaking in those rays. Which is why I depend on botanical brighteners, antioxidants, and sunscreen to protect my skin during the hot months.

Refreshing Cleanser

And since I’m transitioning away from chemical exfoliators during the spring and summer months, I find myself on the hunt for an excellent purifying cleanser. I prefer cleansing gels and foaming washes during the spring season well into the summer. They are effective at cleansing my skin and decreasing surface oiliness. Plus, the foaming action feels so delicious after a long hot day. After I’ve finished up my current cleanser, I’m going to purchase the Burt’s Bees Skin Nourishment Foaming Wash. I’ll keep you posted on whether I like it or not. In the meantime, I’ll continue using the Skin Nourishment Deep Cleansing Cream. It’s still a soft, plush, non-foaming cream that cleanses the skin without over-drying. Thus, making it more than appropriate as the weather transitions from cooler dry temperatures to warm more humid weather.

Double Cleanse Queen

Blame it on being an esthetician for so long, but old habits die hard. And, when it comes to properly cleanse my skin in the evening, I stand firm in the good old’ double cleanse method. Especially if I’ve been wearing makeup during the day. And, even more so during the spring season when the weather is a bit warmer and more humid. Hence, why I was pleased to see that Burt’s Bees has a cleansing oil balm. I LOVE cleansing balms. They are perfect, and I can’t wait to give this one a try.

Keeping It Simple

It’s the simple pleasures such as switching up your skincare and adjusting your routine that can revitalize a stale, boring regimen. And for the moment, I’m focusing on implementing these little tweaks to my skincare routine. Something I’ve learned over the years is that an overcomplicated skincare routine isn’t always necessary. Putting your time and energy in maintaining a simple and effective method does a lot for anti-aging and skin health.

Now, I want to hear from you. Are there any changes you’re planning to make to your skincare routine this spring? Any brands you’re excited to try?
