The wonderful thing about skin health and anti-aging is that we live in a time where we have an abundance of choices regarding treatments to choose from that can help to improve the overall appearance and health of our skin. There are a variety of holistic and natural treatments that you can implement to achieve healthy, beautiful and radiant skin. While there are also a variety of progressive non-invasive, medical treatments you can receive to refresh, rejuvenate and turn back the hands of time. Let’s discuss the various anti-aging treatments from the holistic and natural to the progressive.

Holistic Anti-Aging Treatments

Holistic anti-aging treatments are for the person that is looking to age more naturally or does not have the budget for more progressive skin treatments. They are great for helping to delay the signs of aging and decreasing common aging-related skin issues.

Anti-Aging Facials

These facials utilize different techniques such as facial massage, enzyme peels, chemical peels, and exfoliation to aid in increasing cellular turnover and improving the skin’s hydration while infusing antioxidants, and other anti-aging skin nutrients into the skin.

This non-invasive treatment is like a workout for the face. It involves a low-level current emitted into the face which helps to tighten, tone, and workout muscles. This treatment helps to correct and revitalize the appearance of the skin.

LED Light Therapy

LED stands for “light emitting diode” which is a therapeutic light energy that increases energy in the cells and promotes collagen production, aids in reducing uneven skin tone and helps to rejuvenate and revitalize the appearance of the skin.

This treatment involves the skin being simultaneously cleansed, exfoliated, extracted, and hydrated. The skin is also infused with antioxidants and anti-aging nutrients. The purpose is to resurface the skin while deeply cleansing pores and remove debris to improve the appearance of the skin while combating signs of premature aging.

Progressive Anti-Aging Treatments

Progressive, non-invasive medical treatments are for those that are seeking to reverse their aging signs and symptoms. These treatments are performed in a medical facility and utilize high-tech equipment and techniques to correct and decrease the signs and symptoms of aging.

This treatment uses an injectable solution that helps to relax muscles and temporarily paralyze the muscle. Common areas to receive botox injections are in bewteen the eyes, on the forehead and around the eyes. The results are temporary and will have to be repeated again every 3-6 months depending on how quickly the body metabolizes the solution.

Dermal fillers help to improve and restore fullness to the face. This injectable treatment involves injecting a hyaluronic acid based filler into the dermis to decrease the appearance of nasolabial folds, restore volume to cheeks, and add fullness to lips. The results of filler treatments are temporary and last for a period of 6 months to a year depending on how the body metabolizes the injectable.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments are effective at helping to achieve overall rejuvenation and revitalization to the skin. The purpose of most laser treatments is to tighten, resurface or decrease the appearance of sunspots and uneven skin tone. What type of treatments you are able to receive depends on the type of laser being used as well as what you skin goals are. Examples of various laser treatments are IPL/Photofacial, Thermage, and Fraxel.

This treatment is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy and involves creating microscopic punctures in the skin in the effort to stimulate collagen production and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is common with most microneedling treatments that different serums or solutions can be used to enhance the therapeutic and anti-aging benefits.

Which Will You Choose?

Whether you decide to opt for the more holistic and natural approach to defy aging or decide to use progressive treatments, taking care of your skin not just for the anti-aging benefits but also for the skin health benefits is important for you to defy aging and to look your absolute best at every age and stage of the aging process.
